TBT Founder Koo Kwang-Ming To Turn TBT Over To Ketagalan Foundation

During a press conference on September 1, 2016, Taiwan Brain Trust (TBT) founder Koo Kwang-ming formally announced that he will turn the TBT over to the Ketagalan Foundation, which was founded by former President Chen Shui-bian. He also publicly called on President Tsai Ing-wen to pardon Chen as “doing so would help her a great deal politically” at a time when her approval ratings have been slipping.

Koo went on to say that were it not for eight years of hard work by the Chen Administration, there would not even be a Tsai Administration. At a time when her administration has nothing else to offer, pardoning Chen should take top priority.

In addition to turning the TBT over to the Ketagalan Foundation with no strings attached, Koo stated that he will do everything he can to support and help the Ketagalan Foundation run the Taiwan Brain Trust, because he would like to see it become a point of intersection between Chen Shui-bian or the first eight years of governance by the DPP and society as a whole. He would like to see the TBT become a lens through which the past eight years can be studied.

DPP Legislator and president of the Ketagalan Foundation Gao Jyh-peng and Chin Heng-wei, principal of the  Ketagalan Institute, were also present at the press conference. Gao pointed out that a great deal of work went into creating and running the TBT, so he will work hard to look after it, make it grow, and make it more robust. Chin stated that now that the torch has been passed, the Ketagalan Foundation will do everything in its power to keep it going. He said that Koo Kwang-ming did an amazing job and that the Ketagalan Foundation will strive to follow in his footsteps. The addition of the TBT is a great development for the Ketagalan Foundation. The Ketagalan Foundation now has two wings with which to propel itself forward.
